Personal vs. promotional vs. commercial license
Personal: displaying the artwork in your home, sharing it on your Instagram, using it as a personal avatar or wallpaper, etc. Anything that does not promote or make money in any way. For example a portrait of your DnD character!Promotional (+15%): a type of commercial license. Grants you use of the artwork for promotional purposes. This includes posts on social media, websites, and other online platforms to promote your product. You cannot directly earn money with this art. For example, you cannot sell it as print, but you could use character art to promote your book!Exclusive commercial (+50% to 100%): type of commercial license. Grants you exclusive commercial rights to the artwork—meaning you and you alone can make money of the artwork. However, you do not own the copyright and may only use it as stated in the contract. For example to sell as art prints, postcards, include inside a book, bookmarks, etc.
